Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone: Watch Scorchers batsmen play innovative scoops in 123-run opening stand vs Hurricanes

Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone: The two English batsmen stitched a 123-run opening partnership in a winning cause at the Perth Stadium.

During the 37th match of the ongoing 10th season of the Big Bash League between Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes in Perth, Perth Scorchers opening batsmen Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone put together a match-winning 123-run partnership to seal a 140-run chase in the 17th over.

Known for their innovative shot-making, Roy and Livingstone put on display a quintessential exhibition which saw them taking on the opposition bowlers in unusual manners.

A particular feature which stood out of their batting was them playing scoop shots off fast bowlers especially Scott Boland. Playing without Colin Munro and Mitchell Marsh at the Perth Stadium, the two English players ensured that their team don’t falter in the run chase.

While both of them have had starts in the past this season, it was only in this match that they scored individual half-centuries in a winning cause. Livingstone, who got dismissed off Boland in the 15th over, ended up scoring 54 (39) with the help of four fours and four sixes.

Roy, on the other hand, remained unbeaten to score 74* (52) with the help of eight fours and three sixes to win the ‘Man of the Match’ award.

Earlier, it was Hobart captain Peter Handscomb who won the toss and chose to bat. Barring opening batsman D’Arcy Short scoring 54 (47), no other visiting batsman contributed significantly. With bowling figures of 4-0-36-2, Aaron Hardie was the pick of the bowlers for Scorchers.
