Cross was born on October 3, 1991, in Manchester, England. She started playing cricket because of her brother in the backyard. David Cross is Kate’s father and he has been a very successful football player. He won FA Cup with West Ham United in 1980. Apart from West Ham, he has played in other prominent clubs like Manchester City, West Bromwich Albion, Coventry City, etc.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Kate once shared an interesting incident when she was batting with her father. David gave her advice about not to get out to a particular bowler but himself played a rash shot against him.
‘When I was about 14 I was batting above Dad in the third team and he gave me a pep talk when he came in. He said, “this lad’s bowling dibbly-dobblys, don’t get out to him.”
“So, I’m at the non-striker’s end. Dad’s come in and I’ve never seen a worse shot. This lad was about 13 and 4ft and he’s bowled this half-tracker and Dad’s gone to smack him…”
Christine Cross is Kate’s mother and she is a lawyer who specializes in matrimony laws. Robert Cross and Jenny Cross are Kate’s brother and sister respectively. Robert gave up sports and became a lawyer like their mother. He was once the general manager of Lancashire Thunder and chairman of Lancashire County Cricket Federation. Jenny Cross used to work as a physiotherapist with Lancashire Thunder.
