KKR vs RR Pitch Report for IPL 2023 Match at Eden Gardens Kolkata

Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Rajasthan Royals in the 56th match of Indian Premier League 2023 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This match is of utmost importance for both sides considering the playoffs race. This stadium has hosted some entertaining games this season and the same can be expected this time around.

The Knight Riders won their last match against Punjab Kings in their home conditions. Batter Rinku Singh has been absolutely amazing for the team, whereas all-rounder Andre Russell also smashed the bowlers in the last match. If the bowlers can complement the batters, Kolkata can be a very deadly side.

After an amazing start, Rajasthan Royals are currently in a slump. They are just not able to finish games and it is a very big concern for them. The Royals are one of the most stable teams in the tournament but they need to show composure in pressure conditions.

Eden Gardens has been one of the best tracks out there for batters so far in the tournament. This is an absolutely flat track and there are no demons out there for batting. We have seen a little bit of turn on this wicket and the spinners can play a little part in the second innings of the match.

“When you look at the pitch, it has kind of a mosaic effect, looks quite hard. You got to make sure you change the pace or otherwise, you are gonna get lined up on a good surface,” Mark Howard said in his pitch assessment on Star Sports ahead of the KKR vs PBKS match.

The average first-innings score in five matches of IPL 2023 has been 205 runs which speaks a lot about this wicket. Despite such a huge score, three out of five matches have been won by the chasing teams. The outfield is lightening quick, whereas the boundaries are also very small.

Another run-scoring encounter is on the cards considering the quality of players in both sides. The dew factor plays an important part and both captains would be looking to bowl upon winning the toss.
