It wouldn’t be wrong to say that West Indies all-rounder Kyle Mayers has been worth the money for Lucknow Super Giants in Indian Premier League 2023. In fact, if truth be told, Mayers has contributed much more than one would expect from any player earning INR 50 lakh as IPL salary.

Into his second IPL season, it was only in the ongoing 16th edition of the cash-rich league that Mayers got to debut for Super Giants. On national duty, South Africa wicket-keeper batter Quinton de Kock‘s absence created a vacant opening spot for Mayers. The fact that he hasn’t let de Kock regain his position since then speaks highly about Mayers’ current form.
Seventh-highest (highest for LSG) IPL 2023 run-scorer at this point in time, Mayers has scored 297 runs across eight innings at an average of 37.12 and a strike rate of 160.54.
Kyle Mayers IPL 2023 Price
It is noteworthy that Mayers had registered himself for INR 50 lakh during IPL 2022 auction. The only team to show interest in him, Lucknow had acquired his services for the aforementioned base price.
Kyle Mayers registers 20-ball half-century in Mohali
The latest of Mayers’ four IPL 2023 half-centuries came against Punjab Kings at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium tonight. Opening the batting with captain KL Rahul (12), Mayers took PBKS’ bowlers to the cleaners hitting a total of seven fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 225.
Considering how the 30-year old player scored 54 (24) within the powerplay, his intent doesn’t need a lot of explanation. Mayers, who didn’t spare any bowler who bowled to him on a Friday night, kick-started his innings by scoring four fours off pacer Arshdeep Singh‘s first over. Debutant Gurnoor Brar’s two-run first over was followed by him conceding two fours and a six in his second over.
Take a bow Mayers! 👏👏

Punjab captain Shikhar Dhawan‘s decision to introduce spin in the form of all-rounder Sikandar Raza didn’t go as per plan primarily because of Mayers hitting two sixes and a four in the fifth over.
Bowling his second over, Kings fast bowler Kagiso Rabada did leak a six and a four against Mayers but managed to avenge the same on the back of dismissing him on the penultimate delivery of the powerplay.
