The 3rd season of the Lanka Premier League is underway in Sri Lanka, and some competition is clearly visible in the tournament. This tournament was scheduled to play earlier this year, even the squads were finalized, but it got postponed due to the political conditions in the country.

Hambantota hosted the first leg of the tournament and after a spell of five matches, the tournament will now move to Pallekele. The pitches in Hambantota were really tough for batting, and the fans will expect something better in Pallekele. The wickets in Pallekele are generally good for batting.

On tough batting tracks, Kandy’s opening duo of Andre Fletcher and Pathum Nissanka registered a record partnership where they added 156 runs for the first wicket. Fletcher is the only centurion of the tournament so far, and he is the highest run-scorer of the tournament as well.

In the bowling department, Carlos Brathwaite and Wanindu Hasaranga have impressed everyone, and they are taking wickets for fun. The 21-year-old leg-spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth has impressed everyone with his skills. The spinner have generally done well on the Sri Lankan pitches, and it is evident this season as well.
