Mark Wood Wife Name: How Many Children Does the English Bowler Have?

England’s Mark Wood is playing for Lucknow Super Giants in Indian Premier League 2023. The pacer started the season with a bang on the back of a five-wicket haul. However, Wood subsequently missed a few matches of the tournament due to an illness. Wood’s return is important for the side but he will be missing the playoff stages if Lucknow qualifies.

Wood’s wife is expecting their second child in May and he will return to England to be with her. Although Afghanistan pacer Naveen ul Haq has done well for the side but Wood’s absence can be a cause of concern.

Wood is one of best white-ball bowlers around. A lot of injuries has hampered his participation in IPL and was ruled out because of the same last season as well. Wood would want to make the most of his opportunities this year.

Mark Wood Wife Name

Wood was born on January 11, 1990, in Ashington (England). He aspired to be a footballer in childhood and is a huge fan of Newcastle United FC. Wood completed his education at Ashington High School. Derek Wood is Mark’s father, whereas his mother’s name is not known. He does not have any siblings.

In 2018, Wood tied the knot with his girlfriend Sarah Lonsdale. Lonsdale is a teacher by profession and both of them got married in a brilliant ceremony at Northumberland. Interestingly, one of Wood’s uncles used to play for Northumberland’s cricket team. Mark and Sarah welcomed their first child in 2019 named Harry Wood.

Mark Wood desribed wife’s reaction after IPL 2023 auction

In 2018, Chennai Super Kings bought Wood for a price of INR 1.5 crore, whereas he got a whopping INR 7.5 crore in IPL 2023 auction. Talking to The Guardian, Wood revealed her wife’s reaction after the process. He described this process as a video game and compared it to football transfers.

“As soon as the final amount was confirmed Sarah asked what it was in pounds. I might have to freeze all our accounts so it doesn’t disappear. But we’re delighted. It’s a weird experience,” Wood had described.
