Former Australian batter Matthew Hayden is one of the most iconic batters to ever play the game. It is safe to say that the bowlers feared bowling to Matthew Hayden in any format of the game due to his aggressive intent. Hayden was soft-spoken off the field, but he was really aggressive on the field.

Matthew Hayden was fined $2200 for breaking a glass door
The Australian team dominated in the 2002-03 home Ashes, where they won the series 4-1 in the end. They won the initial four matches with ease, but they suffered a heavy defeat in the 5th and last match of the series in Sydney. Apart from the loss, the players were also reprimanded for their behaviour.
Matthew Hayden was dismissed for just 2 runs in the last innings of the match on Matthew Hoggard’s delivery. It was a little controversial call, and Hayden was disappointed with that decision. While going towards the pavilion, he smashed the glass door in between.
Hayden was then asked to appear in front of the match-referee Wasim Raja, and he was fined 20% of his match fee i.e. around $2200 for the same. He was charged with a level one offence of the code of conduct.
“Matthew is facing the wrath of the ICC referee and whatever is handed down, he’ll accept manfully, as do all of us,” John Buchanan said.
“It was something unfortunate and we don’t want to see that. The doors were closed and he just tried to get through the door – which he did – but the glass broke in the ensuing ‘entree’.”
