The first professional ramification of former Australia captain Michael Clarke’s recent involvement in a public fight with girlfriend Jade Yarbrough could be him missing Australia’s tour of India 2023 as a commentator.

Since the controversial incident, Clarke is said to have not been approached by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) for a role which would have seen him working alongside former teammate Matthew Hayden in addition to a star-studded Indian panel for host broadcaster Star Sports.
According to reports by The Age and The Daily Telegraph, both Clarke and Hayden were thought to be two shortlisted candidates to fill spots of the overseas commentators. If a fresh report according to The Sydney Morning Herald is to be believed, one out of former Australian cricketers named Mark Waugh and Michael Kasprowicz could be in line to replace Clarke for a trip to India next month.
What did Michael Clarke do to face commentary snub?
It was only last week that a viral video of Clarke’s altercation had seen him and Yarbrough not only engaging in a war of words but the latter also slapping him a few times. Yarbrough, sister-in-law of famous television host Karl Stefanovic (also present at the sight in Noosa), was heard accusing Clarke of cheating on her with ex-girlfriend Pip Edwards.
Yarbrough also claimed that Clarke was keen on taking Edwards along with him to India in February. “You want to send her to India with you?” Yarbrough had screamed on Clarke in the video. “‘You’re the love of my life Pip, come with me to India’.”
Michael Clarke statement
Readers must note that both Clarke and Yarbrough were fined by Queensland Police for creating a scene publicly. Considering his reputation and stature, Clarke had issued an apology which was published by The Daily Telegraph.
“I’m absolutely gutted I’ve put people I hold in the highest regard in this position. My actions in the lead-up to this altercation were nothing short of shameful and regrettable,” Clarke had said in a statement.

“I am shattered that because of my actions I’ve drawn women of class and integrity, and my mates, into this situation.”
Clarke, however, continues to make appearances for a radio show named The Big Sports Breakfast back home. Furthermore, the 41-year old has also hinted at a possible commentary gig during Pakistan Super League 2023 slated to be played between February 13 – March 19.
