Months After Bagging INR 7.5 Crore IPL Deal By Delhi Capitals, Prithvi Shaw Had Bought A Home Worth INR 10.5 crore in Mumbai

India batter Prithvi Shaw comes from a very humble background. With his impressive performances, he has made a name for himself in the cricketing world. He started playing in Indian Premier League in 2018 but it took him four years to get a salary increment. Retained by Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction, Shaw earned INR 7.50 crore only to buy a luxurious home in Mumbai.

It was not at all easy for Shaw to make his mark in the game. He lost his mother at a really young age. His father has always been the backbone behind his playing journey. There was a time when he used to take a local train at 6 AM to Bandra to play at the famous MG Ground. He now owns his own flat in the very same area.

Shaw led the India U-19 team to World Cup glory in 2018. Impressed with his performances, he was bought by Delhi for a price of INR 1.2 crore. Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians also tried to acquire his services amid a bidding war. Shubman Gill, who played under Shaw in the U-19 World Cup, fetched a price of INR 1.8 crore (highest among the U-19 batch of that year) at Kolkata Knight Riders.

Fast forward to 2021, Shaw was retained on the back of his performances between 2018-2021. He had scored 1,305 runs at a strike rate of 145.62 including 10 half-centuries across four seasons. With his attacking approach, he made the opening spot his own at DC. A step up in his bank balance also meant a step up in his lifestyle.

From living in a small house in Virar, he subsequently moved to Bandra. Buying a house in Mumbai is never economical. The batter had to splash INR 10.50 crore for buying one in Bandra. Shaw’s flat is on the eighth floor of a building named 81 Aureate. It is one of the most luxurious residential properties in the entire city. The carpet area is of 2,209 sq ft, whereas the terrace is of 1654 sq ft.

Shaw owns some of the most luxurious cars in his garage. To aid the same, there are three parking slots made available for him. The breathtaking view of Bandra-Worli Sealink and the Mumbai skyline is visible from the house. It is to be noted that Shaw paid a stamp duty of INR 52.50 lakh for his four-bedroom house.

The apartment comes with all other amenities such as a swimming pool, banquet hall, cafeteria, gym, spa, library, etc. Bandra is one of the most premium locations in the city of Mumbai. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar‘s home is also in the same area.

Prithvi Shaw Was Among Four Players Retained By Delhi Capitals For IPL 2022

In addition to Shaw, Capitals retained captain Rishabh Pant, all-rounder Axar Patel and pacer Anrich Nortje ahead of a mega auction. It is noteworthy that former captain Shreyas Iyer‘s absence opened up a slot for Shaw.

Iyer, who got injured during IPL 2021, was replaced as a captain by Pant. With the franchise wanting to continue with Pant, Iyer wanted to explore opportunities elsewhere.

That being said, the last two IPL seasons have not been great for Shaw. He even lost his regular opening slot during the recently concluded season earlier this year. Having played just eight IPL 2023 matches, Shaw managed to score just 106 runs at an average of 13.25.
