Former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has become the third cricketer to score consecutive centuries in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Kohli, who scored his sixth IPL century against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday, has followed it with a seventh hundred against Gujarat Titans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium tonight.
Having surpassed former RCB teammate and Universe Boss Chris Gayle (6), Kohli now has the highest number of IPL centuries to his name. Kohli, who has scored a century in three out of his 16 seasons of the biggest T20 league across the globe, has scored more than one century in a season for the second time (first since 2016).
While scoring a T20 century is no mean feat irrespective of the batting position, scoring two in a row is a whole different level of achievement even for one of the greatest batters of all time. The fact that Kohli has pulled off such a coup in a couple of must-win matches speaks highly of his stature as a quintessential big-match player.
With Royal Challengers needing to defeat the defending champions on Sunday in order to qualify for the playoffs of the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League, Kohli single-handedly powering them to 197/5 in 20 overs has put them in a commanding position.
Taking into consideration how no player has ever scored three consecutive IPL centuries, it will be interesting to see if Kohli is able to create this record in IPL 2023 Eliminator or RCB’s IPL 2024 season opener or not. Readers must note that Kohli has scored three consecutive hundreds in international cricket on three different occasions.

Do IPL Centuries Count in International Cricket?
No, centuries scored in the IPL aren’t counted as international centuries. IPL, like most other T20 leagues, is technically a domestic T20 tournament even if it is dominated by numerous international cricketers. Therefore, all IPL centuries are counted as T20 (not T20I) centuries.
