Lucknow Super Giants have successfully registered the highest innings total of Indian Premier League 2023. Had they scored seven more runs, Super Giants would have broken the all-time record for most runs in IPL by a team. That being said, 257/5 in 20 overs is still the second-highest innings total in the history of the IPL.

For a team which had failed to chase down a 136-run target in their last match a few days ago, them being able to post a record-breaking score strongly hints at the level of self-introspection done by the players in the last six days.
Although captain KL Rahul (12) was dismissed early, individual half-centuries by overseas all-rounders Marcus Stoinis (72) and Kyle Mayers (54) played key roles in powering Lucknow to the above mentioned total against Punjab Kings in Mohali on Friday.
Batting at No. 4, Stoinis hit six fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 180 to ensure the swift flow of runs in the middle overs. Mayers, meanwhile, was the one who provided LSG with a head start. Hitting seven fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 225 laid an apt foundation for other big-hitters who followed.
In addition to the two half-centurions, Super Giants also thrived on the back of batter Ayush Badoni (43) and wicket-keeper batter Nicholas Pooran (45) missing out on personal milestones. Pooran, in particular, was unforgiving in his approach hitting seven fours and a six at a strike rate of 236.84.

257/5 | 20 | Lucknow Super Giants | Punjab Kings | Mohali |

It is worth a mention that the first four entries in this table have come in the first innings of an IPL 2023 match.
Interestingly, Lucknow also hold the record for the highest successful run-chase in this season of the biggest T20 league in the world. One of the two successful run-chases in excess of 200 runs, LSG had chased down a 213-run target in a last-ball thriller against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
