Most Sixes Hit in an IPL Season by a Player

Universe Boss Chris Gayle holds the record for hitting most sixes in an Indian Premier League season. As a matter of fact, four entries among the Top Six in the list of most sixes hit in an IPL season by a player belong to Gayle. The same provides enough a hint about the West Indian cricketer being an unmatched force to reckon with during his peak.

Interestingly, the Top Three spots in this list are occupied by West Indian cricketers. Topmost among Indian cricketers, former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli shares the sixth spot with Gayle for hitting 38 sixes during IPL 2016.

Gayle, meanwhile, is the only player to feature five times among the Top 15 in this particular aspect. In what was his second season of the IPL for Kings XI Punjab, Gayle had hit 34 sixes across 13 innings in the 12th season of the biggest T20 competition around the world.

Most Sixes Hit by a CSK Player in an IPL Season

The conversation around most sixes hit in a season was initiated after Chennai Super Kings batter Shivam Dube hit three of them in the ongoing IPL 2023 Match 67 against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Dube, who is only behind Royal Challengers captain Faf du Plessis (36) in the list of most sixes hit in IPL 2023, has hit a total of 33 sixes thus far.

In the middle of a career-best IPL season, the left-handed batter needs to hit three more sixes to overdo former Super Kings all-rounder Shane Watson‘s record of hitting 35 sixes. With CSK most likely to qualify for the playoffs this season, Dube will get more opportunities to break Watson’s record.
