Nic Maddinson injury: Why did Stars substitute Maddinson with Lance Morris in BBL 10 match vs Hurricanes?

Nic Maddinson injury: The batsman from Melbourne Stars was unfortunate to twist his knee while fielding at the Bellerive Oval.

During the 23rd match of the ongoing 10th season of the Big Bash League between Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Stars in Hobart, Melbourne Stars captain Glenn Maxwell invited the hosts in to bat after winning the toss.

On the back of Dawid Malan’s maiden BBL half-century, Hobart posted 164/5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.

Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the second over, Malan top-scored for his team with 75 (56) with the help of seven fours and three sixes to register his 35th T20 half-century.

Barring Colin Ingram scoring a 12-ball 35, Malan didn’t receive much support from the other end. It was the same reason why Hurricanes couldn’t reach to a formidable score.

Nic Maddinson injury

In what wasn’t the best of starts for Stars, they lost batsman Nic Maddinson in only the first over of the match. It was on the fourth delivery of the match that Maddinson twisted his foot during an unsuccessful attempt of saving a boundary hit by D’Arcy Short off Sam Rainbird.

Maddinson, who immediately left the field, was eventually ruled out of the match after Stars substituted him with pacer Lance Morris after the 10th over. Morris, who bowled a couple of overs in the second half of Hurricanes’ innings, ended up leaking 23 runs without picking any wicket.

In the only innings that Maddinson has played in BBL 10, he had scored 5 (10) in a 220-run chase against Sydney Thunder at the Manuka Oval. With the ball in hand, Maddinson has three wickets this season at an average and economy rate of 13 and 7.80 respectively.
