"Paracopter": Riyan Parag emulates MS Dhoni to play helicopter shot vs RCB in IPL 2021

Riyan Parag emulates MS Dhoni: The batsman from Rajasthan Royals played an impact-generating cameo at the Wankhede Stadium.

During the 16th match of the ongoing 14th season of the Indian Premier League between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai, Rajasthan Royals batsman Riyan Parag played an impact-generating cameo whilst putting together a rescue act with all-rounder Shivam Dube.

Coming in to bat at No. 6 in the eighth over, Parag shared a 66-run partnership for the fifth wicket to score 25 (16) with the help of four fours. It was in the 12th over bowled by Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Harshal Patel that Parag hit consecutive boundaries to show first signs of aggression.

Having hit his third boundary off Kyle Jamieson in the 13th over, Parag once again attacked Patel in the next over to emulate Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s helicopter shot.

In what was a full delivery on the leg-stump, Parag thwacked it with utmost timing and power to pierce the gap between deep mid-wicket and long-on.

While Royals and Parag himself would’ve wanted to carry on in a similar fashion, the right-hand batsman’s innovation proved too costly for him to the extent that him trying to ramp Patel saw walking back to the pavilion after the ball went straight to Yuzvendra Chahal at third man.

Parag’s partnership with Dube was dominated by the latter who scored a career-best 46 (32) with the help of five fours and two sixes as a counter-attacking approach reaped fruits for his team.
