During the 32nd match of the ongoing 13th season of the Indian Premier League between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi, Kolkata Knight Riders spearhead Pat Cummins registered his maiden T20 half-century to power his team to 148/5 in 20 overs.
After Kolkata captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and chose to bat, his batsmen didn’t justify the decision as they were reduced to 61/5 in the 11th over.
Having lost all their specialist batsmen barring Morgan, the newly-elected skipper and Cummins joined hands to stitch an unbeaten 87-run partnership for the sixth wicket to provide their bowlers some cushion for the second innings.
The best part about Cummins’ knock was that it came on a surface where even Morgan (39*) was struggling to find the boundaries until the last over of the innings.
It was on the first delivery of the last over that Cummins hit Mumbai Indians pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile for a boundary to complete his half-century. Having scored 53* (36) with the help of five fours and two sixes, Cummins top-scored for Kolkata at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
