Prithvi Shaw Hair: Is Delhi Capitals' Batter Bald?

If one takes a glance through Delhi Capitals batter Prithvi Shaw‘s Instagram handle, one would notice quite a few of his individual pictures (or otherwise) with his cap on.

However, during his most recent trip to Gulmarg (Jammu and Kashmir) or even the one last year in July to Maldives, the 23-year-old had himself clicked confidently in his bald look.

A majority of his followers on the app naturally came up with their unsolicited advises for him. In the comments section, people not only were criticizing him for his look, but also persuaded him to opt for a hair transplant at the earliest.

While Prithvi himself has not opened up on this issue, there are no points for guessing that the he has reached the fourth grade baldness stage where one experiences significant hair loss, and the hairline recedes the farthest.

Shaw’s receding hairline problem perhaps began during his late teenage years. His bald spot on the crown was significantly larger by the year 2020 itself, when he was mere twenty years of age.

One can take a look at his significant reduction in hair volume in the video below, when Prithvi had posted a video via his Instagram handle – of his Delhi Capitals teammates celebrating his birthday in November 2020.

Possible reasons for Prithvi Shaw’s baldness

In majority cases, the reason for a person’s baldness is hereditary, which cannot be prevented. However, the hair loss problem in such cases does not take place at such a young age.

The other possible reason for the same could be the experience of significant stress. While it cannot be stated with certainty that it was immense stress which led to Prithvi’s baldness, he did go through a tough phase in his life during the 2018/19 cricketing season.

The Delhi batter was handed a backdated suspension of eight months in July 2019, for ingesting a prohibited substance which is usually found in cough syrups.

During an interview post suffering the ban period, the youngster had described his life away from Cricket during those months as “torture” and had exclaimed that no one should ever experience such a difficult phase.

Were these months of significant stress and mental pressure the reason for Prithvi’s baldness? We perhaps are not the right people to confirm.
