England certainly missed a spinner in the 2nd test, and the arrival of Rehan is a welcome addition. He is a leg-spinner and a fairly good batter as well which will perfectly suit England’s cause. Rehan has played 3 FC matches for Leicestershire, where he has scalped 9 wickets and scored 195 runs with the help of a century.
Rehan was a part of England’s U-19 World Cup squad that lost in the final this year against India. He was pretty impressive with the ball where he scalped 12 wickets in 4 matches at an economy of 4.19. Rehan did not bat much in the tournament, but he has a FC hundred under his belt.
Rehan Ahmed origin
Rehman Ahmed is a Pakistani origin cricketer who was born in Nottingham in 2004. He played for Nottinghamshire early on in his career but switched to Leicestershire, where he also got a chance to bowl to English batters in nets. Once Shane Warne also met him during a net session and called him a future superstar.
Naeem Ahmed is Rehan’s father, and he used to play professional cricket in Pakistan. Musrat Hussain, Rehan’s mother, migrated with his husband to England for the betterment of his family. Rehan has two brothers, Raheem (the elder one) and Farhan (the younger one). Both of them play cricket as well.
Rehan’s family belonged to Mirpur in Pakistan, and his father drove a taxi in England in order to feed his children. He once nicked Ben Stokes in the nets when he was just 11 years of age.
