Rishabh Pant last 10 ODI innings score list: Rishabh Pant last 10 innings in ODI format

India vice-captain Rishabh Pant was among their five batters who were dismissed almost in the first half of their innings in the ongoing third ODI against New Zealand in Christchurch.

As a result, the visitors are currently relying on middle-order batting options in Deepak Hooda and Washington Sundar to pull them out of trouble after being reduced to 121/5.

While captain Shikhar Dhawan (28) and batter Shreyas Iyer (49) would be ruing their dismissals especially after playing impressive innings respectively against an all-pace Kiwi bowling attack.

Pant, on the other hand, was once again seen getting out cheaply of late as he failed to keep a pull off New Zealand’s part-time bowler Daryl Mitchell along the ground. With Glenn Phillips stationed at deep square leg, Pant’s chances of survival had reduced immediately in spite of it not being the simplest of catching opportunities.

Undone by the bounce by not the most fastest of bowlers, Pant departed after scoring 10 (16) after coming in to bat at No. 4 in the 14th over. With almost 30 overs remaining in the innings at the time of his dismissal, Pant wasted a golden opportunity to play a sizeable knock. As far as the shot selection is concerned, it is high time that we accept that Pant will play such shots to get out due to the nature of his game.

Pant, who admitted a personal dip in his T20I form right before the start of this match, has done reasonably well in ODIs in spite of a couple of failures on this tour. In his last 10 ODI innings since the tour of South Africa earlier this year, Pant has scored 336 runs at an average of 37.33 and a strike rate of 96.55 including a century and two half-centuries.

Although Pant’s T20I form has it in it for him to be dropped for the next assignment, his ODI form should keep his spot in a safe zone as emphasized by stand-in head coach VVS Laxman earlier today.
