Riyan Parag Tweet: Did Rajasthan Royals' Batter Really Tweet About Hitting 4 Sixes in an Over in IPL 2023?

Batting for the fifth time in Indian Premier League 2023, Rajasthan RoyalsRiyan Parag walked out to bat at No. 6 with 51 runs needed off 29 balls to seal a 155-run chase against Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur tonight.

An ideal situation for a finisher to excel especially in a home match, Parag’s 15* (12) wasn’t enough for RR to prevent a 10-run defeat. With 19 runs needed in the last over, Parag hit LSG pacer Avesh Khan (3/25) for a boundary through the point region only to run a leg bye on the following delivery.

Not getting the strike for the remaining four deliveries, Parag continues to be without an impact-generating knock this season. Given the role he plays for his team, his strike rate of 112.50 is way too less for such situations.

Parag, 21, no longer qualifies to expect leniency from experts and fans because of his age. Having played 52 matches for the franchise across four seasons, it is high time that the right-handed batter stands tall on his potential.

Taking into consideration his current form, it will be interesting to see how long will Royals persist with a batter who has had an average of 16.45 and a strike rate of 123.60 for them in all these years.

Parag, who was part of India’s Under-19 squad which lifted the World Cup under Prithvi Shaw half-a-decade ago, comes across as a confident man. It was Parag’s confidence which inspired him to share his inner voice on social media platform Twitter last month.

Parag, who had predicted himself scoring four sixes in an over in the ongoing 16th season of the biggest T20 league in the world, will continue to face wrath of fans unless he walks the talk.

With more than half the season still to be played, one expects Parag to do justice to all the backing which has been provided by Rajasthan towards him. For the unversed, Parag earns INR 3.8 crore as IPL salary each season.
