Rohit Sharma injury update: Will Indian captain bat in India vs Bangladesh 2nd ODI in Mirpur?

The Indian team suffered a huge blow in the ongoing 2nd ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur. Bangladesh opted to bat first, and the Indian bowlers did bowl well in the initial overs of the match. However, the injury of Rohit Sharma can be a thing of worry for the Indian team.

Rohit announced at the toss that Umran Malik and Axar Patel are playing this match in place of Kuldeep Sen and Shahbaz Ahmed. Bangladesh, on the other hand, made a single change where Nasum Ahmed replaced Hasan Mahmud.

The hosts lost their first four wickets for just 66 runs, where Mohammed Siraj took a couple of wickets and Umran Malik & Washington Sundar took a single wicket each. It is safe to say that the Indian team has an advantage at the moment.

Rohit Sharma injury update

Indian captain Rohit Sharma injured his thumb in the ongoing 2nd ODI between India and Bangladesh in Mirpur. Mohammed Siraj was bowling the 2nd over of the innings, and on the 4th ball of the over, the event happened.

Siraj bowled a back-of-the-length ball outside off, and Anamul Haq edged it toward the slip cordon. Rohit was at 2nd slip, and he tried to take the catch, but he injured his thumb in the process. It was a low attempt, but Rohit could not cling to it, and he was bleeding. He immediately left the field and Rajat Patidar replaced him.

BCCI have confirmed via their official handle that Rohit has been taken to the hospital for further assessment. “India Captain Rohit Sharma suffered a blow to his thumb while fielding in the 2nd ODI. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He has now gone for scans,” BCCI tweeted.

It is not confirmed whether Rohit will bat or not in this match as thumb injuries can be critical, and the Indian team won’t take a risk of playing him if there are any kind of risks. KL Rahul is leading the Indian team under’s Rohit’s absence.

UPDATE: Virat Kohli is opening with Shikhar Dhawan
