During the 23rd match of the ongoing 10th season of the Big Bash League between Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Stars in Hobart, Melbourne Stars fast bowler Sam Rainbird was at the receiving end of an amusing sight when a fan refused to return him the ball.
It all happened on the fourth delivery of the 16th over when Hobart Hurricanes batsman Dawid Malan hit a six off Melbourne Stars pacer Lance Morris over square leg.
In what was a missed chance of a crowd catch by one of the fans, deflection off him saw the ball falling in another fan’s glass of beer. Rainbird, who was fielding at deep square leg, appeared to be asking for the ball but it wasn’t the case as the fan continued to drank his beer hilariously despite the ball inside the glass.

Playing his third BBL match, Malan registered his maiden half-century on the back of scoring 75 (56) with the help of seven fours and three sixes. The southpaw top-scoring for Hurricanes played a vital role in the team scoring 164/5 in 20 overs.
Rainbird, who opened the bowling for Stars, registered bowling figures of 4-0-40-1. It was pacer Billy Stanlake (4-0-25-3) who was the pick of the bowlers for Melbourne.
