Shere Bangla National Stadium pitch report: Dhaka pitch report for BPL 2023 today matches

Dhaka Dominators will take on the Khulna Tigers in the third match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2023, at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka today.

Later in the day, the Fortune Barishal will take on the Sylhet Strikers at the same venue, with the latter having already opened their account with a win in the tournament opener.

The first two matches of the ongoing season at this very venue yesterday turned out to be one-sided affairs. While the Sylhet Strikers got the better of Chattogram Challengers in a low-scoring contest by 8 wickets, the Rangpur Riders got off the mark with a 34-run victory over Comilla Victorians later in the evening.

As for the two matches to be played today, Dhaka will be led by pacer Taskin Ahmed, while Khulna will be skippered by the Southpaw batter Tamim Iqbal.

During the night game, Foortune Barishal will be led by the veteran allrounder Shakib Al Hasan, while Sylhet will look to carry on with their good work under the leadership of Mashrafe Mortaza.

Shere Bangla National Stadium pitch report

The Shere Bangla National Stadium pitch in Dhaka turned out to be conducive enough for the batters as was witnessed during the second match of the ongoing BPL season yesterday.

Rony Talukdar became the fastest Bangladeshi batter to smash a half-century in BPL history, taking mere 19 deliveries to accomplish the feat.

“The pitch was really good and the ball was coming on to the bat nicely,” remarked Talukdar regarding the Dhaka pitch post receiving the ‘Player of the Match’ award.

However, the pitch at this venue will also bring the spinners into play, as has been the case here over the years. Expect teams to bat second upon winning the Toss, especially during the night matches with the dew factor also kicking in.

Scores in the vicinity of the 160-run mark might well prove to be a match-winning total for the teams batting first.
