West Indies will take on the United States of America in a Group A match of ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2023. The match will be played at the Takashinga Sports Club. Qualifying for the World Cup is a very important thing for any nation and both teams would want to put their best foot forward in the first match.

West Indies, two-time world champions, are one of the favourites to qualify. Under the leadership of Shai Hope, West Indies have played really well recently. The opening duo of Brandon King and Johnson Charles has been very important for the side. Spinner Yannic Cariah can be a crucial player, too, in these conditions.

USA will try their best in order to challenge the Caribbean side in this match. Pacer Ali Khan has played a lot of franchise cricket lately and his experience will be vital in this tournament. Monank Patel is the captain of the side and he will have a massive role to play.

Takashinga Sports Club Pitch Report For WI vs USA ODI World Cup Qualifier

Takashinga Sports Club, Harare, has not hosted a single men’s international match till now. Some women’s ODIs and T20Is in the past have been played here. A couple of warm-up matches happened at this venue ahead of the tournament and both of them were high-scoring encounters.

Zimbabwe (367/6) defeated Oman (339) by 28 runs in the first match, whereas West Indies (374/9) emerged victorious against UAE (260/9) by 114 runs in the second one. It looks like a flat pitch with lots of runs on it. The batters won’t find it tough to hit maximums here due to the smaller boundaries.

Talking about the bowlers, the spinners and medium pacers were more effective than the pacers. The pitch may get slower in the second innings of this match as well. Both teams may opt to bat first considering the nature of the surface. Having a good score on the board is always a huge benefit in these kinds of tournaments.
