"Tere Gaal Zyada Mote Hai Ya Mere": When Yuvraj Singh Took A Jibe At Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant's Fitness

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is known for his cheeky banters across social media platforms. He once took a dig at the fitness levels of India captain Rohit Sharma and wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant after an Indian Premier League match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.

All the sporting events were at a halt in 2020 because of the novel COVID-19 pandemic. The cricketing activities resumed with IPL 2020 and the fitness of the players was tested as most of them were not having the facilities to be part of workout sessions during the lockdown. The same was seen with Pant and Sharma as well.

Both Sharma and Pant had gained some weight and Singh was quick at pointing out the same. Singh shares a brilliant camaraderie with both of them and we have seen that on multiple occasions in the past. It all happened after Mumbai defeated Delhi by 9 wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Indians shared a picture of Sharma and Pant chatting after the match where they mentioned the six-hitting competition between both of them. For the unversed, Sharma and Pant had engaged in a cheeky banter during an Instagram live when Pant challenged the Indian skipper.

“Still waiting for that six-hitting competition between Pant and Ro,” MI wrote in its caption

Singh posted a couple of tweets in which he trolled both of them. Sharma missed that match due to a hamstring injury, whereas Pant managed to score 21 (24). Capitals scored 110/9 in the first innings and MI chased the target without any discomfort.

Sharma played in the later stages of the tournament, but he was ruled out of the limited-overs series for the Australian tour after the tournament. He missed the initial two Tests as well. Pant was dropped from the ODIs and T20Is series due to his poor performances.

Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant Performance in IPL 2020

DC and MI also met each other in the final of IPL 2020, but the batting performances of Pant and Sharma were below par throughout the season. In spite of returning to form in the final, Pant scored 343 runs at a nominal strike rate of 113.95 with the help of just a single half-century. Pant’s weight was highlighted by quite a few experts as well.

Sharma led Mumbai to their fifth IPL title, but his stats with the bat were not encouraging either. He managed to score 332 runs at an average and strike rate of 27.66 and 127.69 respectively. Sharma’s injury created a lot of controversies as he posted a video of him batting in the nets moments after he was dropped from the Indian team on fitness grounds.
