With team India at present going through one of the toughest phase with aplenty ordinary results, the fans somehow can’t help but jog down the memory lane to recollect and reminisce some of the priceless moments that Dhoni had provided them with during his international Cricketing days, especially in the capacity of the skipper.

With the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) just three months away from its commencement, the world might well witness the last of MS Dhoni – the cricketer, and as the skipper of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as well.
While he is likely to hang his boots next year from the game altogether with the tag of a ‘legend’ (which he has earned already), the man himself, in all his humility, doesn’t believe he is one. Rather, the 41-year-old is content with the fact that people connect with him as a player, and that he was able to make sure that team India played in accordance with the potential which it possessed.
MS Dhoni explains why people connect much more with him
During a brand promotion event alongside renowned actor and television presenter Mandira Bedi a few months ago, MS Dhoni was asked to come up with his views pertaining what he feels upon being called a ‘legend’ of the game.
In his inimitable, quirky manner of answering questions at times, Dhoni responded by stating that he does feel old when people call him a ‘legend’. He then went on to remark that for starters he does not believe that he is a legend, but reckons that his greatest strength has been that people tend to connect more with him because of his unorthodox style of playing the game.
“Most of you would have played Cricket at some point of time. The reason why people connect with me is because the way I play Cricket is the way they play Cricket. It’s not like Sachin Tendulkar playing Cricket where you see him and you’re like – ‘I can’t play like that’. They see me and they are like, ‘Aise to hum bhi khelte hain‘ (this is how we play as well). He (Dhoni) doesn’t have an orthodox way of playing, he’s somebody who hits the ball everywhere, and has a lot of fun on the field. So, I think that’s what my greatest strength has been. It’s not about being a legend,” remarked Dhoni.
