The Gabba Brisbane weather forecast: Weather tomorrow Brisbane for 1st Test AUS vs SA Day 1

Been host to five ICC T20 World Cup 2022 matches, Brisbane will be hosting its first Test match of the year to kick-start South Africa’s tour of Australia 2022. With the Gabba set to host a Test after just over a year, it is an apt venue for a contest between two teams eager to flex their fast-bowling muscle throughout the next five days.

Australia captain Pat Cummins will make a return to the Playing XI in place of pacer Michael Neser. With the rest of their combination remaining same from the second Test against West Indies in Adelaide earlier this month, expect an in-form Australian side to challenge the Proteas in a much better way than it was the case during their last series (both away and at home).

Slated to play a Test match in Australia after more than six years, South Africa will have to be wary of some of their players’ inexperience of playing in these conditions despite them resembling to the ones back home.

The Gabba Brisbane weather

Although a two-match Test series between Australia and West Indies hadn’t faced the brunt of weather, a three-match Test series between Australia and South Africa might get affected by rainfall on the first day itself.

A clear and pleasant morning in Brisbane on December 17 is highly likely to be followed by a rainy afternoon. If weather portal AccuWeather is to be believed, there’s a 51% rain probability right at the start of the second session tomorrow. It is noteworthy that the second session is expected to be the worst affected by rain on Saturday.

The weather, however, will improve in the evening session with the rain probability anticipated to fall below 20% post the tea break. All in all, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that chances of uninterrupted play in the second session at the Gabba on Day 1 appear bleak going by the weather prediction on paper.
