In what can be termed as an ‘enough is enough’ moment, former India captain and BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) president Sourav Ganguly became absolutely livid at a certain section of Twitter users after he had praised Shubman Gill the other day for scoring consecutive centuries in the ongoing 16th season of the IPL.

It is as if a few individuals have this constant urge to pit someone against the other and create a mountain out of a molehill, despite a person simply exhibiting his feelings while praising a special knock by a special player of his country.
While the aforementioned tweet and the subsequent replies should ideally have been about descriptions and analysis of Gill’s stellar century against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last league match of IPL 2023, it unfortunately snowballed into another episode of the Kohli v/s Ganguly rivalry out of nowhere.
Sourav Ganguly Fumes After Fans Accuse Him For Ignoring Virat Kohli’s Consecutive IPL Centuries
For those unaware, not only had Gill and Virat Kohli smashed their respective centuries during RCB vs GT match the other day, but it also happened to be the night when the duo had added themselves to an elite list of batters who have smashed consecutive centuries in IPL history.
However, what didn’t go down well with the fans was their sense of conviction that Ganguly specifically praised Gill for his achievement, and deliberately ignored Kohli for a similar accomplishment.
A couple of days later, as a reaction to the toxic replies, the former India captain exclaimed, “Just a quick reminder .. hope those of you twisting this tweet ,understand English .. if don’t please get someone responsible to explain ..”.

The Ganguly v/s Kohli issue
Reason for Ganguly’s angry tweet has to do with the consistent media reports claiming a rift between the two for around a year-and-a-half now.
While the status of their present equation with each other is not known, there indeed were apparent tensions between the two during the time Kohli had relinquished national captaincy.
To brush it up, all of it had started when Ganguly had claimed that Kohli was requested to not step down as the T20I captain, only for Kohli to later deny that there had been no communication as such.
With Ganguly deciding to stay mum on the issue ever since, the market of speculations of an alleged rift between the two has been warm as ever.
