Jadeja Winning Shot Video: Sir Jadeja Hits Four Off Mohit Sharma To Create Historic CSK Winning Moment

Ravindra Jadeja (1/38 & 15*) knew an attempted yorker was to arrive yet again. He stood deep into his crease, waiting in bated breath for Mohit Sharma (3/36) to make an error. He did err in line, although fractionally, but it was enough for the all-rounder to send the ball beyond the long-on fence.

Having nearly nailed each of the four previous yorkers and conceding four singles off them, no way Sharma was going for his well-disguised slower delivery based on the recency bias of a couple of minutes ago.

He had to go for the yorker again with Jadeja standing tall wearing the “nothing to lose” look on his face. Sharma fired in the attempted yorker. However, it was delivered as a low full toss on the pads. The southpaw’s eyes lit up. He just had to tickle the ball past the short fine leg fielder. And he did!

Jadeja knew it. CSK knew it. A stone-faced MS Dhoni in the dug out knew it. The “Yellow Army” had clinched a last-ball thriller at the Narendra Modi Stadium by 5 wickets. The defending champions had been humbled twice in the playoffs by CSK. But most importantly, Dhoni-led Chennai lifted their fifth IPL title.

As Jadeja went for the celebratory run, in storm the rest of his teammates. We also witnessed Dhoni lifting him up in his arms in what was the purest moment of unadulterated joy for the veteran. On the other hand, camera panned towards GT captain Hardik Pandya, who was seen consoling a dejected Sharma on his haunches.

Earlier, the chase could not have been possible without the contribution of most batters from the visiting team beginning with a 74-run partnership between Devon Conway (47) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (26). Each of Shivam Dube (32*), Ajinkya Rahane (27) and Ambati Rayudu (19) made sure that their side kept up with the required run rate throughout a 171-run in a 15-over contest.
