Virat Kohli Ducks in IPL: How Many Times Has RCB Batter Dismissed for 0 in the Indian Premier League?
Royal Challengers Bangalore are up against Rajasthan Royals in the 32nd match of Indian Premier League 2023. Virat Kohli again came out to lead the RCB side in the absence of regular Faf du Plessis (only batting as an Impact Player). Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Sanju Samson opted to bowl first on a brilliant batting track in Bengaluru.
The opening duo of Kohli and du Plessis has done wonders for Bangalore this season and the crowd expected both of them to fire yet again. Although, it was not meant to be and Kohli got out on the very first delivery of the match. Kohli’s weakness against left-arm pacers is known to the world and Royals’ pacer Trent Boult proved the same yet again.
Bowling from over the wicket, Boult bowled a brilliant in-swinger and Kohli had no clue about the same. He tried to flick the ball but it struck him on his pads. It was so plumb that Kohli did not even bother to review the decision. This was Kohli’s tenth duck in IPL history and M Chinnaswamy Stadium was dead silent after Kohli’s dismissal.

Virat Kohli Ducks in IPL
Kohli’s first duck came in the inaugural edition of the IPL against Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru. He then had four seasons in between which he never got out without opening his run counter. However, in 2019, he got dismissed a total of three times without getting off the mark.
It is quite interesting that he has got out on golden ducks seven out of ten times in his career so far. This is a record that Kohli would want to improve in the near future.
Kolkata Knight Riders‘ batter Mandeep Singh (15) and RCB’s Dinesh Karthik (15) have registered the most number of ducks in IPL. Even Mumbai Indians‘ skipper Rohit Sharma has failed to score a single run 14 times in the tournament.
