Who won the toss today IPL 2020: Is R Ashwin playing today's IPL 2020 match between DC and CSK?

Is R Ashwin playing today’s IPL 2020 match: The veteran spinner had suffered a shoulder injury in Delhi Capitals’ season opener vs KXIP.

During the seventh match of the ongoing 13th season of the Indian Premier League between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings in Dubai, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and chose to field for the third consecutive time in the tournament.

Coming on the back of losing against Rajasthan Royals, Super Kings have decided to make a solitary change in the form including Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood for South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi.

“I think we need to respect the conditions and the fact that dew will play a part. Maybe the teams batting second so far in the tournament have made mistakes to not win. It looks better to bat second on TV. Some of the wickets might slow down as the tournament progresses.

“But given the number of strips out here and the amount of grass, it won’t become a low scoring tournament.  One change – [Lungi] Ngidi misses out and [Josh] Hazlewood comes in. As far as my batting position goes, I’ll do whatever is best for the team,” Dhoni said during the toss.

Is R Ashwin playing today’s IPL 2020 match?

As far as the Capitals are concerned, their captain Shreyas Iyer opened up on how he too wanted to field first. “We needed that win in the first game of the season. The boys are really motivated and we are in a great mindset. I would have chosen to field as well because in the last match dew played a great part,” Iyer said.

Being asked about the changes to their winning combination, Iyer made public that their injured spinner in Ravichandran Ashwin will miss the match alongside pacer Mohit Sharma.

“[Ravichandran] Ashwin, I feel is doing pretty well but we wanted to give him 2-3 matches off so we get him for the rest of the tournament. He’s doing well in the gym. We have two changes – Amit Mishra in for Ashwin and Avesh Khan for Mohit Sharma,” Iyer mentioned.
