Chennai Super Kings, the second-most successful team in the Indian Premier League in terms of number of titles won, is seldom placed at the eight position on the points table. So far, IPL 2020 has been that rare occasion for the runners-up of IPL 2019.
In the three matches that Super Kings have played in the ongoing 13th season of the IPL, they have won just one and lost the remaining two to witness their Net Run Rate dropping to -0.84.
Scheduled to play their fourth match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai tomorrow, Chennai will take the field after a week after playing three matches in quick succession. In an interview published on CSK’s website, head coach Stephen Fleming believes that the break had come at the right time and has been used “pretty well” by the team.
“It came at a good time because the first three games were in quick succession and all games were at different grounds, so you have to appreciate trying to read conditions, for each game being predominantly the first team to play there was tough.
“And also coming off a couple of challenges we had off the field, we’ve used this break pretty well, we got some clarity around what we need to do and have practised very well,” Fleming was quoted as saying on Super Kings’ website.
Will Ambati Rayudu and DJ Bravo play in CSK vs SRH IPL 2020 match?
Having played a match each at the three IPL 2020 venues namely Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai, Fleming expressed relief regarding the fact that they will play four out of their next five matches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
“It’s very helpful that we can settle in and try and read conditions at one ground and not several. I’m looking forward to putting in a bit of performance than we did the last time we played at Dubai where we were outplayed by Delhi Capitals. There were a number of areas that we weren’t happy with, and we’ve worked hard on those,” Fleming said.
Being asked about the injured pair of batsman Ambati Rayudu and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, Fleming revealed a vital update for the fans of the franchise that the duo has recovered from their respective injuries and are available for tomorrow’s match against SRH.

“Yep, they [Ambati Rayudu and Dwayne Bravo] are available for selection, so their experience within the squad is going to be important,” Fleming concluded.
As reported earlier, both Rayudu and Bravo were expected to return in the match against Hyderabad. Speaking exclusively about Rayudu, Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had confirmed his availability after losing to Delhi Capitals by 44 runs.
