Cristiano Ronaldo breaks down in down after being shown the video of his late father praising his son.
The Good Morning Britain co-host’s upcoming documentary, Cristiano Ronaldo meets Piers Morgan, will be aired on Tuesday, 9 PM UK Time on ITV.
ITV released an extract from the documentary that had the outspoken Morgan shared a clip of Ronaldo’s late dad, Jose Dinis Aveiro.
The clip was filmed before Jose Aveiro died of alcoholism way back in 2005 and had him being interviewed outside his home for a Norwegian TV. Ronaldo’s father spoke highly about his son and how proud he was because of the current Juventus striker.
When it was shown to Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese International broke down in tears.
He said: “I never saw the video. Sorry (for the tears).
Piers Morgan asked: “What’s the sadness for you?”
Ronaldo replied: “To be number one and he doesn’t see anything. He doesn’t see him receive awards. He never saw how great you became.
My family see, mum, my brothers – even my old son. But, my father didn’t get to see anything.
‘He doesn’t see me receive awards.’
In an emotional interview, @Cristiano breaks down in tears over the loss of his late father and the fact that he never got to witness his son’s success.

Ronaldo’s mother, Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro, previously opened up about how difficult life became with Dinis and his battle with alcoholism.
She said: “He was drunk almost every day. I never really knew him well. I would have liked him to have been around more.
“Although he never mistreated his children, I became his victim.”
