Cristiano Ronaldo news Maurizio Sarri explains the Juevntus Star’s angry reaction at being substituted

Cristiano Ronaldo news: Maurizio Sarri explains the Juevntus Star’s angry reaction at being substituted during their Champions league match last night.

Cristiano Ronaldo looked far from happy at being substituted during Juventus’ 2-1 win against Lokomotiv Moscow last night. Social media was buzzing with pictures of the Portuguese superstar; who looked less than thrilled at being replaced by Paulo Dybala.

To be fair, Ronaldo seemed clearly frustrated as he made his way off the pitch. He exchanged a few words with his manager, Maurizio Sarri before walking away. This was the first time in over 3 years he failed to complete 90 minutes in a champions league match.

Ronaldo was angry because he wasn’t very well

Sarri has however downplayed the entire event. He dismissed rumors that Ronaldo was displeased at being sent to the bench. Speaking after the match, he insisted that the superstar was frustrated because he had suffered a minor knee problem.

“Ronaldo was angry because he wasn’t very well, he had a knee problem a few days ago and his adductor got tired,” said Sarri.

“At the end of the first half he was nervous. I was afraid he would hurt himself and I preferred to take him off.”

In the end though, Cristiano Ronaldo was seen smiling and celebrating after Douglas Costa scored a last gasp goal to give Juventus 3 points while rumor mills and news portals speculated over a possible infighting. Juventus fans will breathe a sigh of relief knowing that all is well in the team camp.

However, Ronaldo’s constant breakdowns will be a source for worry for many of his fans around the world. They are now slowly but surely realising that the Cristiano Ronaldo era is at its very end. Knowing Ronaldo though, the end will not come without one last valiant fight; Perhaps one last Champions league title or a Ballon d’Or? Who knows maybe a successful defence of the Euro Cup with Portugal?
