Opening along with Quinton de Kock, while Rohit has had the odd good inning, he’s far from performed as his side would have wanted. While Quinton has been in good touch, Rohit on the other hand has failed to step up, being way too ill disciplined in his shot selection.
On this surface, he’ll come up against massive, stinging spin which has been one of his biggest downfall in recent times. With so many spinners in their line-up, CSK will look to send the spinners early on against him and get him going cheaply.
Jasprit Bumrah Vs Faf du Plessis
Faf has been the highest run getter for CSK despite missing out in their early part of the campaign and before he eventually goes back to South Africa at the beginning of the knock-out stages, CSK will be reliant on him having a couple of good innings left under him. He’s found it easy to take various bowling units to the fence but in the form of a player who’s arguably regarded as the most effervescent pacer in Bumrah, the going won’t be easy for him.
Both sides are in terrific form, functioning as a complete unit with everyone delivering dependable performances in their unit. It’s been a healthy season for both the sides and as we head into this clash, there’s hardly anything to separate them.
What edges this match in CSK’s favour is their spin department. This surface was surprisingly better last time around but with two matches in a matter of days on it, expect its inclement nature to make a return. CSK will make full use of their resources and MI could find it difficult to write another narrative where they win.
