Daniel Ricciardo is on his way to Renault post the 2018 season and is desperate for a change as he has had a torrid season with Red Bull this time round, suffering 8 DNFs up until now(with the Abu Dhabi GP scheduled for next weekend).
Ricciardo was on course to pen down a deal with Red Bull half way through the season, with the Red Bull management confident that the Australian wanted to continue with the team and would form a very able partnership with Verstappen for the 2019 season.
However, Ricciardo had other ideas, especially considering the fact that Red Bull had invested heavily in Verstappen and were not going to keep Ricciardo at par(other than on paper).
Daniel made the difficult decision of leaving a top 3 and joining one of the midfield teams as he did not have any options available, with Ferrari and Mercedes having already sorted out their lineups for the 2019 season(Ferrari hadn’t announced it but it was always going to be Vettel and Kimi/Leclerc).
With Ricciardo set to leave Red Bull, Red Bull would be hoping to give him a good farewell in Abu Dhabi, especially after the fiasco in Mexico where he suffered a clutch issue in the dying stages of the grand prix and had to retire with a podium finish almost confirmed.
Ricciardo vented out his frustration then but he too would be hoping to end things on good terms as he has had some great moments with Red Bull.
The Red Bull Instagram account wanted the fans to highlight the best ‘Dany Ric’ moments in their latest post.
Ricciardo tried to have some fun in the comment section of the post.
How do you think Daniel Ricciardo would perform at Renault and do you think Red Bull will be able to give him a reliable enough car for his final grand prix with them. A DNF would be catastrophic but not surprising, but if he manages to somehow dish out a win it could make up for all those painful moments in the ongoing season
