David De Gea new contract: The Manchester United star is reluctant on renewing his contract at the club due to performances on the pitch.
Manchester United were outclassed at Etihad Stadium by a much-superior City side on Sunday night, as Mourinho’s men lost 3-1.
Pep Guardiola’s side regained the top position in the Premier League with the win, and is now two points clear of the second-placed Liverpool. Manchester United, meanwhile, struggle at 8th position, behind Bournemouth and Watford, whom they have beaten earlier in the season.
Moreover, Jose Mourinho’s team is the only side to have a negative goal difference in the top-10. (-1)
The club might be set to receive another blow – this time in the transfer market. It has been reported earlier today that the club’s star goalkeeper, David De Gea, is ‘reluctant’ on signing the new contract with Manchester United.
David De Gea new contract:
The Spanish goalkeeper joined Manchester United in 2011, and has now become one of the best goalkeepers in the world. De Gea has been a consistent performer for Manchester United throughout the years, and has won the club’s Player of the Year on multiple occasions.
Last season, he also won the Golden Glove, beating Thibaut Courtois, who then played at Chelsea.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Man United look so much worse and have been getting poor results now that David De Gea is playing like ‘just’ a decent goalie rather than the best in the world. He’d been covering up a lot of their problems for a few years.

However, the recent performances of Manchester United have become a hindrance for De Gea to put pen on paper. The club finished trophyless last season, and made a disappointing start to their 2018/19 campaign.
After a series of good results which included a win over Juventus in the Champions League, the side was thumped 3-1 in the first Manchester derby of the season at the Etihad Stadium.
De Gea is no closer to agreeing a new contract at Old Trafford. United have offered him wages of £275,000-a-week but the keeper is reluctant to commit his long term future to a club which is not competing for major trophies. He could leave for free in 2020. Manchester United are reportedly ready to offer 275k pounds-a-week for David De Gea, but the side’s performances has been a concern for the goalkeeper.
David De Gea has won only one Premier League title at Manchester United in 2012/13, and the Spanish star believes that United are slipping further away, rather than competing for the league trophy.
#mufc are no nearer to convincing De Gea to stay. He is reluctant to commit to the club whilst they are struggling. United are willing to offer around £275,000 a week #mulive [james ducker]

What next?
Manchester United are a whopping 12 points behind neighbors and league leaders Manchester City, and 7 points behind top-four.
Mourinho’s men will return to action with the game against Crystal Palace next week, and host Young Boys in a crucial Champions League group stage tie.
