Barcelona have not scored too many goals in away matches in the Champions League knock out stages. Clearly, the side were desperate to get one behind the net as Lionel Messi chased the ball in Napoli’s box. However, David Ospina evaded the forward with a body feint sent him to the floor.
Barcelona eventually managed to equalize in the 2nd half through Antoine Griezmann in the 57th minute. However, the Spanish side lost Gerrard Pique, who had to be substituted after sustaining an ankle injury and also witnessed the sending off of Arturo Vidal who received two yellow cards at once.
As a result, the Chilean will now miss the 2nd leg against the Italian outfit at the Camp Nou.
Napoli could also be without the services of Dries Mertens after the forward limped off in the 2nd half.
This was the first meeting between two sides. However, despite the draw, Barcelona will consider themselves the favourites to progress playing the 2nd leg at their home ground with an away goal in their pocket.
