DC vs KKR Super Over

DC vs KKR Super Over: Twitter was exhilarated to see Delhi and Kolkata playing a nerve-wrenching super over at Delhi.

During the 10th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders at Delhi, IPL 2019 witnessed the first super over of this season. While the hosts looked set to win the match at one stage, an exceptional comeback from the visitors saw the match going into the super over.

Chasing a 186-run target, teeange batsman Prithvi Shaw scored his career-best IPL score to nearly secure a victory for his team. Before getting out in the penultimate over of the match, Shaw ended up scoring 99 (54) with the help of 12 fours and three sixes.

Delhi Capitals losing it in the end

The equation for Delhi reduced to needing 18 runs in three over to needing six in the last one. While they were considered the favourites at this point in time, Kolkata chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav conceded only five runs in the over to save the match for his side.

On the last ball of the over, DC batsman Colin Ingram needed a couple of runs to win the match for his team. With him scoring a single run on the last ball, he failed to secure victory for his team.

Apart from Shaw, Delhi captain Shreyas Iyer ended up scoring 43 (32) with the help of four fours and two sixes. With bowling figures of 4-0-41-2, Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for KKR.

In the first innings, KKR had scored 185-8 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. It was a 95-run stand for the sixth wicket between captain Dinesh Karthik (50) and all-rounder Andre Russell (62) which aided Kolkata to scored a formidable total. Having registered 4-0-40-2, Harshal Patel was the highest wicket-taker for the visitors.

Super Over

Batting first in the super over, Delhi sent Iyer and wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant to bat. Apart from Iyer scoring a four off KKR bowler Prasidh Krishna on the second ball of the over, DC batsmen failed to make it count in the super over. Having scored 10-1 in the super over, DC gave KKR a target of 11 runs.

For KKR, the in-form pair of Russell and Karthik came out to bat against Delhi fast bowler Kagiso Rabada. Having hit a four on the first ball of the over, Russell missed the second one and was bowled off a pinpoint yorker on the third delivery.

With Robin Uthappa in the middle, Rabada kept the intensity high as he conceded only a couple of runs on the next two balls. With KKR needing five runs in the last over, Uthappa scored a single run as Kolkata lost the match by 3 runs.
