Deepak Chahar unveils MS Dhoni's reaction

Deepak Chahar unveils MS Dhoni’s reaction: CSK fast bowler opened up on the legendary cricketer’s reaction to his over.

During the 18th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab at Chennai, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni handed the ball to fast bowler Deepak Chahar to bowl the penultimate over of the match.

Predominantly used as a new-ball bowler by Dhoni, Chahar usually completes his four-over quota with the new ball. In the absence of injured Dwayne Bravo and benched Mohit Sharma, Dhoni had trusted Chahar to bowl the all-important over.

With Punjab needing 39 runs in the last two overs, the hosts were the favourites. However, Chahar bowling two no-balls had erupted plentiful nerves in their dugout. With the equation reduced to 31 runs in two overs, Dhoni was seen rushing to his 26-year old bowler as the duo was involved in an animated discussion alongside vice-captain Suresh Raina.

After two of his slower balls went utterly wrong, Chahar quickly turned to yorkers. Conceding only five runs in the following six balls including the wicket of David Miller (6), Chahar justified Dhoni’s decision to bring him back into the attack.

In an exclusive interview with TimesofIndia.com, Chahar opened up on how Dhoni was furious with him after he bowled two consecutive no-balls. The right-arm pacer also revealed that the captain praised him after the match which CSK won by 22 runs.

With bowling figures of 4-1-17-2, veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was the pick of the bowlers for CSK and was also awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
