Delhi batsman becomes the 1st batsman to score a 300 in T20s
Something remarkable transpired in Delhi today when Maavi XI took on Friends XI at Lalita Park in a local tournament in Delhi called ‘Friends Premier League’. Mohit Ahlawat went bonkers to score 300 of 72 balls, hitting 39 sixes and 14 fours to become the first ever batsman to score a 300 in a T20 game at any level. Ahlawats’s team piled up 416 runs in the stipulated 20 overs.
No team has ever scored 300 in a T20 game making Ahlawat’s achievement all the more significant. You could argue that the ground dimensions were not that big and the bowlers were not of the highest quality, but scoring at this rate is no mean feat.
Mohit has already represented the Delhi side in the Ranji Trophy, but was dropped after a poor run of form and would be hoping that this record breaking score helps him find his way back into the Delhi Ranji setup.
The record for the highest score in a T20 game was previously held by Dhanuka Pathirana when he smashed 277 of 72 balls in a Twenty20 match in Lancashire’s Saddleworth League.
Ahlawat will be catching a lot of eyeballs today and we hope that he can prove that this was not just a freak innings but a proper indication of his skill as a batsman! He would have to bring more consistency into his game to have any chance of cementing his place in the Delhi side and then to be in contention for a place in the National team setup
