Diogo Dalot has completed his medical and is set to become the second summer signing for United, according to Sky.
The Portuguese defender will be the second new player to grace the Old Trafford after Fred was confirmed by the club yesterday. According to Sky, Dalot has completed his medical, and will join Manchester United later this week. The defender has a release clause of £17.4m.
The defender has played seven games for FC Porto so far, including the Champions League RO16 game against Liverpool.
The right-back is seen as a potential successor to current club captain Antonio Valencia.
Manchester United have had problems with their defence throughout the season. While their performances against the top-5 clubs were formidable, they dropped crucial points against lower-ranked clubs due to sloppy defending.
Manchester United finished second in the league in the 17-18 season, behind derby rivals Manchester City. The blues finished with 100 points, 19 ahead of second-placed United. This has led to Jose Mourinho identifying transfer targets to strengthen the side for the next season, and challenge the neighbours.
Yesterday, Manchester United confirmed the signing of Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk. Fred completed his medical last weekend, and is currently with Brazil. He has been selected for the 23-man squad as Brazil aims for world cup glory this summer in Russia.
Fred is seen as a box-to-box midfielder. According to various reports, Fred joined Manchester United for a transfer fee in the excess of £50m.
#MUFC is delighted to announce it has reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Fred.
