"Disaster horror movie": Twitter reactions on Shahbaz Ahmed picking three wickets in match-winning over vs SRH

Shahbaz Ahmed picking three wickets: The all-rounder from Royal Challengers Bangalore bowled a match-winning over tonight.

During the sixth match of the ongoing 14th season of the Indian Premier League between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai, Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed bowled a match-winning over to turn the tables at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Needing 35 runs in four overs to seal a 150-run chase, Hyderabad were on the front foot when Bangalore captain Virat Kohli brought back Ahmed into the attack. Having given six runs in his first over, Ahmed foxed SRH’s batsmen to play cross-batted rash shots to give away their wickets.

It all began on the first ball with Sunrisers batsman Jonny Bairstow’s (12) attempt of slogging Ahmed across the line led to his dismissal due to minimal timing on the ball.

On the following delivery, Manish Pandey (38) stepped out to play a wild shot only to mistime the ball high into the air to be caught by Harshal Patel at short third-man. In the same over, Abdul Samad played a shot similar to Bairstow only to depart for a duck on the first ball that he faced.

The game-changing over saw Sunrisers needing 34 runs to win the match in the last three overs. In what wasn’t to be primarily due to a shambolic batting performance, Hyderabad lost the match by 6 runs despite Rashid Khan scoring a couple of boundaries in the last two overs.

With bowling figures of 2-0-7-3, Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers for the Royal Challengers tonight. Other than the left-arm spinner, the Indian pacer-duo of Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel picked a couple of wickets each.
