Dota 2 Hero Guide: Which is the best build & lane for playing Hoodwink in Dota 2? The latest hero, Hoodwink is part of the Mistwood update. She packs quite a punch, if you build the right items. This is the only guide you will need to master this new hero.
Hoodwink is a ranged disabler who can nuke squishy heroes, destroying them. When it comes to core heroes, she can deal a lot of damage making her quite scary to deal with. She is also extremely versatile and elusive and has an escape option, making it even harder to catch and kill her.
In this guide, you will find out which are the best items to build on Hoodwink and which lane you should play her in to get the most out of her. But before we get into that, lets take a look at her abilities.
Acorn Shot (Q): Hoodwink fires an Acorn at the target unit, which will bounce between enemy units, slowing and dealing damage (Similar to Witch Doctor’s Paralyzing cask). If it is point-targeted, a tree will emerge, and will last for 20 seconds.
Bushwhack (W): Hoodwink tosses a net, which traps and stuns enemies if they are near a tree. The enemies’ vision is reduced to zero as long as they are stunned.
Scurry (E): When moving near trees, Hoodwink passively has a chance to evade physical attacks. When activated, she gains bonus movement speed, phased-collision and tree-walking abilities.
Sharpshooter (R): Hoodwink charges her cross-bow, firing a deadly shot, which deals heavy damage, slows the enemy and applies a break effect. The bolt automatically fires after channeling for 5 seconds, but the damage scales to max after 3 seconds. Hoodwink is knocked back by 350 units after she fires the shot.
Best Build & Lane for Hoodwink
The best way to play Hoodwink is as a roaming & ganking hero, either from the middle-lane or the off-lane. She is annoying and hard to deal with and cannot be punished easily. Always Max out your Q (Acorn Shot) before scaling up the other skills apart from Sharpshooter. Scale Sharpshooter at Level 6, 12 & 18.
Here is the list of items you should build on her to maximize her potential:
Early game: Tangos, Wraith bands, Phase boots, Witch Blade or Mage Slayer along with a magic wand or bottle to make sure you have enough resources to sustain early on.
Mid-Game: MKB (Only if your game is going well), Malestorm (Bad start), BKB (Defensive Item)
Late-Game: Eye of Skadi, Mjolnir, Boots of Travel to split push and keep pressure on the enemy.
