Eoin Morgan: England captain gets injured ahead of England vs Australia Warm-up match on Saturday in Southampton

In what might come as a bad news for the English Cricket fans, their England Cricket Team captain Eoin Morgan has reportedly injured himself ahead of his side’s clash against the Australians in the first of the two warm-up games on Saturday.

The left-handed batsman has reportedly injured his left index finger during his team’s training session on Friday, May 24. The English side was gearing themselves up for the England vs Australia Warm-Up match, which is set to take place on May 25, 2019, at The Rose Bowl, in Southampton.

Extent of injury unclear

The captain of the home side appeared in pain at the nets in Southampton after hurting his left index finger.

According to news reports, he will undergo an X-ray as a precautionary measure. The England and Wales Cricket Board said he would be “going to hospital after practice”.

England are the favourites to win the World Cup on home soil and claim the trophy for the first time, having lost in the final three times – in 1979, 1987 and 1992. The southpaw has been instrumental in his team’s success in the limited overs format off-late, and are currently placed at the top of the ICC ODI Team ratings.

The English fans will hope that their skipper gets fit before the main tournament kicks-off on May 30 where England will be up against the mighty South Africans at the Kennington Oval in London.
