Poland defeated Ukraine in their final group game thanks to a first half goal from former Dortmund winger Jakub Blaszczykowski. There were no major concerns for Poland prior to the game as Ukraine were already eliminated having lost their first 2 games. Here are 3 things we learnt as from Ukraine vs Poland.

1 Robert Lewandowski is struggling

Polish side relied on Lewandowski’s goal scoring exploits throughout qualifying and needed him to fire at the Finals as well, yet after 3 games and 270 minutes of football , the Bayern Munich striker is yet to have a shot on target is nowhere near his usual self , Poland desperately need him to find his form ahead of the round of 16.

2 Ukraine exit on a low

Ukraine were the first side to be eliminated from the tournament and had no pressure coming into this game, and although they enjoyed much of the possession , they failed to create clear cut chances and Poland had moreover an easy afternoon in defense. Olexandr Zinchenko, is rated as Ukraine’s future star and the 19 year of showed glimpses of why he is regarded so highly. Yet Ukraine now go out without scoring a single goal.

3 Poland can cause Upsets

Poland are yet to concede a goal in this year’s championships and are looking solid in defense. They will go into the second round as group runners up , if they continue to defend like this and somehow Lewandowski rediscover his goal-scoring touch , they will be a match for any team going forward.
