Euro 2020: France, Germany and Portugal react to being drawn in the group of death. The last two World Cup winners will join the defending European Champions in group F.
EURO 2020 is still months away but it got off to quite a start last night when it was announced that Germany, France and Portugal were pooled together in group F. Between them, the trio have won 4 international trophies since 2014.

Germany won the 2014 world cup while France won the 2018 world cup. Portugal beat France, who interestingly beat Germany in the semi-finals, to win Euro 2016. Portugal also won the 2019 Nations League.
While the fans are loving the prospect of seeing the three sides have a go at each other, the teams would have preferred to have easier opponents to make their path to the knock outs much easier. You can see the hilarious looks on the faces of Portugal, France and Germany’s faces as they go from tensed to laughing at the abject absurdity of the draw within moments.

“It is the hardest group, but we must accept it. It means we will have to be ready right away,” said France coach Didier Deschamps.
The trio will be joined by either of Iceland, Bulgaria, Hungary or Romania. However, unless they pull of a super human effort, the focus will remain on the first 3 sides. While 2 teams will each go through from the same group, all three teams can still qualify as four of the six third-place teams will qualify for the knockout round after their records are compared.
Here is the confirmed list of all the groups so far:
Group A: Turkey, Italy; Wales, Switzerland
Group B: Denmark, Finland; Belgium, Russia
Group C: Netherlands, Ukraine; Austria, Georgia/Belarus/North Macedonia/Kosovo
Group D: England, Croatia; Scotland/Israel/Norway/Serbia, Czech Republic
Group E: Spain, Sweden, Poland, Bosnia Herzegovina/Northern Ireland/Slovakia/Republic of Ireland
Group F: Iceland/Romania/Bulgaria/Hungary, Portugal, France, Germany
