Reigning Drivers’ Champion Max Verstappen has once again seemingly taken a dig at F1’s ever-changing schedule. A day after he raised doubts about whether being an F1 driver in today’s day is actually a ‘happy life’, he has now seemingly taken another swipe by explaining how he cannot even remember F1’s schedule.
When asked during his press conference how he felt about his front-row start at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after having two pole positions so far in the year, Verstappen replied, “It is not bad. I mean it is better than last“.
He then went on to explain his point further, a time at which he seemed to forget that this Grand Prix was a sprint race weekend. “The points are on Sunday. So I do not mind if it is a little bit slow on Saturday and quick on Sunday. Or whatever. I lost it with the formats now. Can I say that,” he added.

Max Verstappen questions whether winning in F1 is living a ‘happy life’
With a salary of a whopping $55 million each year, Max Verstappen is one of the highest-paid F1 drivers on the current grid alongside Lewis Hamilton. Despite earning such an astronomical amount, he surprisingly has questioned whether he is actually living a ‘good life.’
As per Autosport, he said that while he likes racing and winning, he was not sure if he was living a ‘good life’. He explained his point further by stating that at times there is a point in one’s career when one wants to try their hand at other things.
This is not the first time that he has raised concerns about his future in the sport as he has done so many times in the past. Since Verstappen’s current deal with Red Bull expires in 2028, it will be interesting to see if he chooses to stay in F1 beyond that or not.
Verstappen’s dominance continues into the 2023 season
When it comes to the F1 2023 season, Max Verstappen’s start to the new campaign perhaps could not get much better. The Dutchman is in the form of his life as he has so far registered two wins and one second-place finish from the first three races of the new campaign.
Consequently of these results, he has scored 69 points out of a maximum of 78 and currently leads the championship by 15 points from his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez. He will now hope to carry on this fantastic form into this weekend’s race in Baku, in which he qualified second on the grid, just behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
