After Pioneering 190 Grams of Advertising Technology, McLaren Inspires LIV Golf to Follow the Suit
LIV Golf has recently followed McLaren’s footsteps by putting screens in their kit. They have taken inspiration from the British F1 team, which has devised an ingenious way of advertising their sponsors, and it is nothing but surreal. Through this, they have given all their sponsors, well over 40, a good space in their car for advertisement.
However, the interesting part remains that the team did not have to compromise on their weight much. As the challenger’s weight plays an important part in F1 and the sport has strict rules over it, the Papayas only had to add 190 grams more to their car.
Even though the carbon fiber that the Kindle tech replaced was lighter, to satisfy the sponsors, such compromise felt important for the team. Given how attractive and new this is in the sports market, this can instantly bring big investments.
McLaren’s ingenious addition and LIV Golf
At a time when Lando Norris and Co. were visibly struggling in the last few seasons, the latest addition to their advertisement strategy shocked a part of the fans as they believed McLaren was a bit crazy to add 190g despite underperformance.
However, this has been a fantastic addition, and no wonder why LIV Golf has picked up on their kit. As they added the tech-powered by Seamless Digital, it’s unclear how much they weigh. Since it’s based on the same technology as McLaren’s, it is believed they will not weigh tremendously.

Mike McAllister and Joe Pompliano posted about the tech on their official Twitter handle, and it was then the fans came to know about it. Few loved the new technology, while others felt this was a desperate move.
In the end, the technology is indeed classy, but with this comes the expense. Being a delicate piece, the advertisement panels are sure to cost a high fortune and will cost investors a lot to have their advertisements on board.
Keeping aside advertisements, how is McLaren performing?
After ages, the McLaren of Lando Norris has performed well in the recently concluded Austrian Grand Prix. The Briton finished the race in P4 with an upgraded McLaren.
Now, with the upgrade package working rightly, the Woking-based team will look to take their fight only to Alpine and the likes of Ferrari, Mercedes, or Aston Martin.
Notably, the recent performances at the Silverstone Free Practices also sparked hope in fans. Norris and Piastri finished their FP1 and FP2 sessions in P8 and P10, respectively, and in P14 and P9, respectively. It’ll be interesting to see how much the upgraded McLarens fare when the lights go out on Sunday.
