After Winning 103 Races, 7x Champion Lewis Hamilton Picks His “Best Race Ever”

Lewis Hamilton has recently revealed the best race of his career. The driver, who won 103 races in his career, finally picked the 2021 Brazilian GP victory as his best winning performance. The Mercedes star also labeled the Sau Paulo race, where he went first from the last, as the most special one to date.

As per a recent video released by team Mercedes, the star driver was seen looking at the photos of him defining special occasions. One picture of him showed the Briton holding the Brazilian flag on the podium with pride.

The 38-year-old won the Interlagos race against all odds. Despite receiving grid penalties twice, the British driver didn’t budge and snatched the win from his title rival Max Verstappen.

Why Brazil GP win is so special for Hamilton?

The Brazilian Grand Prix win, which was the 101st of his career, is special to him for many reasons. But especially for a reason related to the Coronavirus pandemic that unsettled the world in 2020.

Speaking about the reason, he said that he was in deep pain after listening to the “horrific” stories from all over the world. He also emphasized Brazil’s loss of about half a million people through the pandemic. Hence, a win here meant he could lift the entire nation.

Furthermore, the British-Brazilian star also talked about his love for Ayrton Senna. And how he was defeated, having received two penalties in the same weekend and the blow it would have brought to his world championship progress.

Lewis Hamilton vs. Max Verstappen in Brazil 2021

After passing the season-long battle on each other’s toes, Verstappen and Hamilton arrived at the Interlagos for 2021 supremacy, with just 19 points separating the duo.

As the two championship protagonists arrived at the race, the Red Bull driver clinched the pole position. Interestingly, the seven-time world champion was disqualified from the qualification due to an illegitimate rear wing.

However, defying all odds, the 38-year-old reached P5 in the sprint after starting from P20. After this, Valterri Bottas’ former teammate received one more penalty for exceeding the limit of ICE and started the race from P10.

Once again, Lewis Hamilton proved to be unbeatable as he came from behind to win the famous Sau Paulo Grand Prix. This was indeed one of the best performances from the Brit by a mile.
