A few months ago, there were rumors that the 24-year-old could replace Williams’ Logan Sargeant. However, according to Ted Kravitz, that opportunity no longer seems available.

Williams has made it clear that they have no plans of replacing Sargeant despite several reports suggesting that the team is looking for a replacement. While speaking in a recent interview, Williams team principal James Vowles said, “My plan A is investing in Logan and making sure we get the absolute most out of him.”

As for Schumacher, he joined Mercedes this season as a reserve driver after getting the axe at Haas. With the German without a seat, he’s been working tirelessly on the simulator to provide the Silver Arrows with any help he can.

According to formu1a.uno, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff provided an update about Mick Schumacher’s future possibilities. The Austrian told Ted Kravitz, “All the doors are being closed in front of him.”

Hence, since no team seems to have a seat available for the 2024 season, the German may need to wait until 2025 to return to F1. Another option is that he could seek a move to other forms of motorsports.

Will Schumacher spend another year as a Mercedes reserve driver?

Mick Schumacher is already 24 and needs to decide his future. His first option is to continue with Mercedes as a reserve driver for another season and hope that a seat opens up in 2025.

However, if the German is unwilling to spend another year as a reserve driver, he could switch to other forms of motorsports, such as Formula E or endurance racing. Regarding Schumacher’s opportunities at Mercedes, he is unlikely to have a chance to secure a race seat until 2026.

This is because the Silver Arrows seem committed to their current line-up of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, as both drivers recently signed a contract extension. Both drivers signed a deal that will now expire following the conclusion of the 2025 season.
